Cartoon Art Museum hosts Sam & Max celebration with Steve Purcell

The Cartoon Art Museum are hosting a special evening to celebrate Sam & Max’s stupendous existence.

The event will be on the 1st February 2014. From 4-5pm there will be a Surfin’ the Highway book signing with Steve Purcell, followed by a guided tour of the art with Mr. Purcell from 6-7pm (ticket cost $20) and ending with a reception from 7-9pm ($5).

If you’re in the area then it certainly seems an event worth attending. Tickets can be purchased from CAM’s site.

Telltale haven’t forgotten about Sam & Max

Dan Connors and Kevin Bruner are two of the founders of Telltale Games. Recently (read: two months ago), the pair held an ‘AMA’ (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit – essentially, they answer user’s questions.

When asked by a user if they’d forgotten about Sam & Max or if there was hope for another season, Bruner replied:

quotelongWe love Sam & Max and certainly haven’t forgotten about them! I think you’ll see something smaller (more like Poker) than a full Season, and probably not for a bit, but we have NOT forgotten about them, we’ve just been super busy growing like crazy.

Perhaps we could see a one off episode for the duo in the future? Or maybe they’ll turn their hand to another card game…? It’s a shame that a full season is unlikely, but anything is better than nothing!

Interview with Harvey Atkin

It’s with great pleasure that I can present to you my interview with Harvey Atkin. For those of you who don’t know, Harvey voiced Sam in the Sam & Max animated series that broadcast oh so long ago!

For my money, Harvey’s portrayal of Sam is one of the greatest and it’s lovely to know how much he enjoyed the role. Please don’t hesitate to leave your feedback in the comments and I’ll be sure to pass it on to Harvey. I’m sure he’d love to hear from you all.

Interview with Melissa Hutchison

Melissa Hutchison is a hot name in voice acting nowadays. Having won critical and fan acclaim with her role as Clementine in Telltale’s The Walking Dead, us Sam & Max fans were actually won over with her first with her portrayal of Girl Stinky.

It was a delight to be able to talk to Melissa about her work in the series and about voice acting in general. She’s super friendly, amazingly talented and obviously extremely passionate about her work. I hope you enjoy reading the interview.

Interview with Dave Boat

pokernight2review_newsDave Boat is a voice actor who has been in TV shows (Family Guy), films (Wreck-It Ralph) and video games (Ratchet & Clank). He’s one talented and friendly guy, but how is he involved in Sam & Max?

In Poker Night 2, Dave took on the role of Max as a sound-alike for Telltale’s usual choice of William Kasten. Did you notice the change? I had a chat with Dave to find out more about him, his work in the industry and his experience of voicing Max.

Different voice actor for Max in Poker Night 2

Here’s something a bit strange: in Poker Night 2, Max isn’t voiced by William Kasten as he usually is in the Telltale games. Instead, Dave Boat takes over the vocals.

I didn’t notice the change at all, but it makes you wonder why William Kasten didn’t lend his voice. Thanks to Tora Netwon Y for spotting it on the Telltale forums. I’ll update if Telltale comments on the matter.

Also, according to TV Tropes, during the game Claptrap asks Sam what’s next for Telltale. In response, Sam says he’s just glad someone touched up the models of him and Max. I haven’t heard this dialogue myself yet, but it’s certainly interesting if true. Could season four be in production? Or is Sam merely showing his appreciation that Telltale are still looking after him despite the lack of a new game? I’ll hold out hope and go with the former.
